Pets and summer.

Here is a reminder about our pets and the summer heat.

If you  have pets that are outdoors in the warm weather, please make sure you leave them lots of fresh drinking water and a place where they can get out of the hot sun.

Many animals succumb to the hot temperatures from not having water and shade.

It is a terrible way for an animal to suffer and you can avoid it by just taking a few precautions to protect your pet.

Have a safe summer and remember your pets in the heat.

Also, don’t leave them in a parked vehicle in the hot sun.

Our Pets!

I would like to tell you all about our pets we have at home. The pic I have inserted is Muffin.

We have 4 dogs. Nikki is our 9 year old Malamute that came to us from a lady who worked in a food bank and fed her donuts and let her eat off of the compost pile. When we rescued her, she was heavily matted, around 60 pounds overweight and very sick.

After almost 3 years with us, she has lost about 25 pounds. A lot of weight to come off still.

Freya is our 12 year old rescue, mixed breed with some German Sheperd in her. I rescued her from the original owner who took her to the pound on her 10th Birthday to have her put down. She is a beautiful girl and is part of our family.

Chester, our high strung Aussie, is about 12 years old and is terrified of fireworks and gun shots. We live out in the forest and both these things seem to be much louder than in the city.

Wiley is our little boy, a mixed Australian Shepard. He is around 10 years old, sweet as can be and is buddies with Chester.

Our cats- I will start with the youngest.

Sky is our grey tiger cat,4 years old, and is  overweight because she eats the dog food and always competing with the other cats. It is very hard to put one cat on a diet when you have 6 inside cats.

December is a rescue cat, he is 4 also, my neighbor got December the same day I got Sky, and now December lives with us, as the people moved away.

Bubba, my little Tuxedo boy, he is my baby, the December is always chasing him and terrorizing him. He is the runt out of all the cats. He can jump higher than any cat I have ever seen..

Tommy, our Russian Blue boy, he is a rescue. About 10 years old, we are not sure because the previous owner picked him up off of the street. Tommy is so lovable, he sleeps on my pillow at night and wraps around my head.

Pippin our long hair black female is a rescue and is now living under our house due the her peeing everywhere in the house.. including the bed. She is happy now to be out of the house, she likes her solitude. It is hard for me because I do not like cats to be outside here due to Coyotes etc. I made a choice, put her out permanently or take to the pound. She is over 10 years old and I knew they would put her down.

Muffin, my orange tabby girl. She is around 11 years old and I remember my husband coming home from work one day and as he came to the door, I saw this tiny puff ball with a lavender ribbon around her neck, It was love at first sight. She has the cutest soft meow.

Sweetypie, is my female Himalayan. We got her from a Pet shop 11 years ago, and she is the loner of the bunch, she comes out when she wants food and will get up on the bed, but try and pick her up.. she does not like to be held.

So as you can see, I have my hands full with all the critters.

We love them all and are 100% committed to all of them.

Between cats peeing in the house and not using litter boxes, it is an ongoing struggle for me to keep same.

I have 6 indoor cats and have cut down the litter boxes from 6 to 4.

It is working out okay, but one or two of the cats do not like using them at all and do their potty chores outside the box.

Bubba the Tuxedo boy, likes to go into the litter box in bathroom when I am in there and I always laugh my head off.. it is so funny looking down at him doing the same thing.. He is such a character.

Now that you have met my pets, I would love to hear about yours.

More info to come in a few days.. the weekend is here and I have my house chores and gardening to tend too.

I will post some interesting info for you in a few days.

Happy Friday!

Sue

Pets and Fireworks!

Just a reminder that July 4th is coming up and that means fireworks. Most pets are afraid of the noise and can become confused and run for cover.

Please make sure you keep your pets inside when the fireworks are going off. You do not want to be hunting for the pet all night long. Keep them safe please.

If you have a pet that gets traumatized from the noise, see your Vet and get something to relax them.

It will save much heartbreak in the end.

We have an Aussie and he tears our house apart when the fireworks start, so I have to get something for him this time.

Tigger

Welcome to CritterFriends!

Hi Everyone, my name is Joan,

CritterFriends is all about animals, especially our pets.  Most people have pets.  Those who don’t, enjoy other peoples pets.  I have one cat, his name is Tigger, he is an orange and white Tabby.  Tigger is a big boy, weighing in at 24 lbs.  He is 11yrs. old, and he has colitis.  He enjoys sleeping mostly, he doesn’t play much unless somebody plays with him.  Next to sleeping, eating is his favorite,  but he is on a special diet.  He gets very few treats because of his weight.
